Full Definition of ZWD


ZWD is the three-character currency abbreviation for the Zimbabwe Dollar based on the ISO-4217 standard codes. ZWD is the official currency of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The common usage symbol for the ZWD is Z$. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe is the government agency that issues the ZWD. The ZWD divides into smaller units of known as cents. One ZWD equals 100 cents. The ZWD is not considered a major currency and is not actively traded in the international currency markets. The value of the ZWD “floats” against other currencies. That is, market forces determine the value of the ZWD. Therefore, the ZWD is easily convertible into other currencies. The approximate conversion value (in late 2005) for the ZWD in US dollars is ZWD 74,882 to USD 1.
