A non-metric unit of sound absorption.
acoustics A unit of measurement that measures a material’s absorbance of sound. A material that is 1 square meter in size that can absorb 100% of sound has a value of one metric sabin.
Non-metric unit of sound absorption, one sabin being the absorption power of one square-foot of a perfect acoustic-absorption material an open window. Named after the US scientist Wallace Sabine (1868-1919) who invented it unit in 1911 and called it ‘open window unit.’
