The Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is a global float-adjusted market capitalization-weighted index. The Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is one of the four subindexes used in the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Index. A pool of Brazilian companies selected from the Dow Jones Wilshire Global Total Market Index is used to construct the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex. There are 15 companies included in the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex. The Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex was introduced in June 2006.

The base value of the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex was set at 100. The base date for the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is retroactive to December 31, 2002. Each Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex company’s weight is capped at 10%. The Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex weights are reviewed each quarter. The Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is reconstituted on an annual basis in September in accordance with a set of transparent criteria. The largest 30 companies from the Dow Jones Wilshire Global Total Market Index eligible for inclusion in the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex are ranked first by float-adjusted market capitalization and second by average trading volume computed over the 3 months prior to reconstitution. The final ranking of those Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex eligible companies is computed by assigning a 50-50% weight to each ranking.

The top 10 companies of this final ranking will be included in the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex. The last five companies of the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex are selected based on the remaining largest companies. In addition, at the end of every month, a top 30 list (i.e. ranked by float-adjusted market cap.) of eligible companies to be included in the next Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex reconstitution is published. The Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is computed using the Laspeyres’ formula. Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is published in real-time in both euros and US dollars.

A net return value for the Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is also provided at the end of each day. Dow Jones BRIC 50 Brazil Subindex is also referred to as the Dow Jones Wilshire Brazil Index.
