CHX. A regional stock exchange founded in 1882 that merged with the Midwest Stock Exchange in 1949, and then was renamed as the Chicago Stock Exchange in 1993. The Chicago Stock Exchange operates as an automated exchange, trading shares of securities listed on the NYSE, AMEX and Nasdaq exchanges. The CHX is the third most active stock exchange in the United States.
