Stop Hunting

Full Definition of Stop Hunting

A practice wherein traders intentionally push a stock price lower in order to trigger a stop-loss order. Once the stop-order is activated, stock prices will even go lower as the market would experience a flood of sell orders. With the stock price at a low point, the traders would then profit from its decline.
