Wet Reckless
Quick Summary of Wet Reckless

“Wet reckless” is a term used in some U.S. states to describe a reduced charge for driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) offenses. It typically refers to a plea bargain where the defendant agrees to plead guilty to a lesser offense of reckless driving involving alcohol. The term “wet” signifies the involvement of alcohol, distinguishing it from a regular reckless driving charge. Wet reckless charges may result in lesser penalties compared to DUI charges, such as reduced fines, shorter license suspensions, and less severe consequences for insurance premiums and criminal records. However, wet reckless charges still carry significant legal consequences and may involve mandatory alcohol education programs or probation.

What is the dictionary definition of Wet Reckless?
Dictionary Definition of Wet Reckless
n. a plea to a charge of reckless driving which was "alcohol-related." A wet reckless results from a plea bargain to reduce a charge of drunk driving when the amount of blood alcohol was borderline illegal, there was no accident and no prior record. The result is a lower fine, no jail time and no record of a drunk driving conviction, but if there is a subsequent drunk driving conviction the "wet reckless" will be considered a "prior" drunk driving conviction and result in a heavier sentence required for a second conviction.
