Full Definition of Term Certain Annuity


A type of annuity that provides fixed periodic payments for a pre-specified period of time, rather than for an undetermined duration such as the lifetime of the recipient. This type of annuity is not well suited for retirement income, since the recipient may outlive the duration of the annuity.
