Savings plan offered to individual investors by certain governments and corporations, that encourages investment in general, or investment in certain stocks in particular, by offering discounts, tax breaks, or subsidies to purchase stocks. This is sometimes used to encourage retirement investment, or to encourage employee stock ownership of a company.
