Overstay

Full Definition of Overstay

Situation where investors and traders find themselves making a loss or very small profits when they continue to remain in a profitable position expecting to make a higher profit, or in a loss-making position expecting to reduce the loss. Timing the market is a very difficult task and the overstay that usually results can be avoided by making an appropriate exit even with a smaller profit or a small loss.
