Net Short

Full Definition of Net Short

Situation where an investor has more open short positions than open long positions in an asset or security. The value of a net short position will increase as the price of the underlying instrument decreases. A net short strategy might be taken by investors expecting a decline in the market, or by hedge funds. Opposite of net long.
