Full Definition of Injure

To injure is to hurt or harm another person or group of people. To win a personal injury case the plaintiff must prove they suffered an injury due to another person’s negligence and this injury led to some type of loss. If you are going to file a personal injury case you must prove all elements of the case. Someone’s actions toward you can be negligent, but if their negligence does not cause you loss, including injury or monetary loss, you have not satisfied the elements of a personal injury case.

The most common type of injuries in a personal injury case include loss of limb, severe head trauma, brain injury, burns, cuts, and paralysis. In a workers’ compensation claim you may file a claim if you have a disease or condition which has been exacerbated by your work conditions. If you have suffered loss and have been injured a personal injury lawyer can help you determine total compensation before you discuss your case with the insurance adjuster.
