What is the dictionary definition of Dereliction?

Dictionary Definition


n. 1) abandoning possession, which is sometimes used in the phrase “dereliction of duty.” It includes abandoning a ship, which then becomes a “derelict” which salvagers can board. 2) an old expression for an increase of land due to the gradual lowering of a tide line (which means the land is building up).
