Crossover Credit

Full Definition of Crossover Credit

A bond that has been assigned a split rating by two rating agencies that places it on the cusp between being an investment grade and non-investment grade. Although crossover credits usually trade at higher yields than investment grade bonds, they are considered to be riskier investments which precludes most banks and institutions from owning them.
