Full Definition of Active Index Fund


An index fund which consists of securities of a tracked benchmark index, with an additional layer of actively managed, non-related securities added by a fund manager. This layer of non-benchmark securities is intended to boost the performance of the index fund to earn higher yields than a passive index fund.
